The short answer
Up to 12 people, Godin House is enough: its mahjong table is in the 4F lounge, with a long table and a sofa beside it so whoever is waiting for a seat has somewhere to sit. For a bigger group, or if you want to play and cook hot pot at the same time, choose Hello House, where the mahjong table and the island kitchen are both on 1F.
For about 10 people, go straight to check availability and prices for 10 guests, then pick the house and price by date.
Why play mahjong at a whole-house stay
At a mahjong parlor you pay for the table, and everyone still has to get home afterwards. With a whole house, the night belongs to your group, and bed is just upstairs.
- No rush: when the last round ends, there's nowhere to go but your room.
- Your own food: bring late-night food back first; for a proper meal, choose Hello House with its island kitchen (see the kitchen at Hello House).
- Lunar New Year's Eve: a few rounds on New Year's Eve is a tradition, and over the holiday you can walk to the Xinle Street New Year market for late-night snacks.
- Any kind of get-together: at a family reunion or a company trip, open a table in the evening, and even colleagues or relatives who barely know each other start chatting.
Where each house's table is, and what you can cook

Hello House (whole house for 8–26 guests)
The mahjong table is on 1F, the same floor as the island kitchen and bar. The players and the cooks share one room, so nobody has to shout up the stairs, and when the hot pot is ready it comes straight to the table. 1F also has a 43-inch smart TV for Netflix or YouTube.
Godin House (whole house for 4–12 guests)
The mahjong table is in the 4F lounge. That floor has a long table, benches and a sofa, so whoever is waiting to swap in can sit nearby, chat or watch TV. Food prep is just a fridge, a microwave and a sink: you can heat up takeaway, but there's no open flame and no real cooking.
At both houses
- 4 chairs, comfortable enough for a whole night
- Heating and air conditioning
- Board games and playing cards for anyone sitting out
- Smart TV and Wi-Fi
Sorting out late-night food
Takeaway
- Bao Zai fermented-tofu fried chicken on Dagong Road: about 3 minutes on foot, with fried chicken bites and other fried snacks; it opens only in the evening, just right to bring back for a game.
- Aloha braised snacks on Daren Road: the dry-style braised snacks Yancheng locals buy.
- Da Kou Pang charcoal-grilled sandwiches: open for breakfast and again in the evening, and a charcoal-grilled sandwich makes a good late-night snack too; closed on Sundays, so check the day's hours before you go.
- Over Lunar New Year: the Xinle Street New Year market has long-running milk tea shops, steamed ba-wan and handmade mochi to take back and eat between rounds.
Cooking at Hello House
- Hot pot: buy the ingredients at PX Mart, about 4 minutes on foot, then cook between rounds.
- Instant noodles: add an egg and some greens for the easiest midnight meal.
- Drinks: stock the fridge first so nobody has to keep running out.
Take care not to get food on the tiles, and keep drinks beside the table, not on it.
House rules for mahjong nights
- Noise: after 23:00, please keep it down; that includes voices, scraping chairs and shuffling tiles.
- Look after the table: please don't slam it; when you finish, put the tiles away and push the chairs back in.
- Bring your own: you're welcome to bring your usual tile racks or a scoring app.
- Damage: normal wear and tear is not charged; damage from misuse is charged at cost.
Where to go by day
Save mahjong for the evening: by day, walk around Pier-2 Art Center and watch the sunset at the Great Harbor Bridge. Over Lunar New Year, the Xinle Street New Year market is within walking distance: browse it by day, then open a table back at the house.
